Who should apply?
Authors currently residing on the North Shore, on Bowen Island, or in Lions Bay – or resided here during the publication year – are encouraged to apply. Review all eligibility details below.
Eligibility
- Authors must currently live on the North Shore, Bowen Island, or Lions Bay. Authors may also qualify if they lived here during the book’s publication year.
- The book must be published between 2016 and 2026.
- The book must not have been featured in the North Shore Authors Collection before.
- Books must be professionally printed and bound for circulation. Spiral bound material is not accepted.
- Content must comply with Canadian law.
- Authors/applicants must hold the legal rights to the work.
- All submissions must be the author’s original creation. While the use of AI tools for tasks such as editing, brainstorming, or idea development is acceptable, the final work must not be wholly AI-generated.
- For works in which pictures are a significant focus of the format, i.e. Picture Books, Graphic Novels, the illustrations should be human generated.
- Authors can submit up to 3 books per year.
- All genres for any age group are accepted.
- Books may be in any language.
If accepted, authors will be asked to donate three new copies of the book, at no cost, to the North Shore Authors Collection for display at North Vancouver City Library, North Vancouver District Public Library, and West Vancouver Memorial Library.
